Abstract

This research aims to examine how unhealthy communication from parents impacts the mental development of students in the eleventh grade at SMAN 1 Purwosari in Pasuruan Regency. A dysfunctional family can impact the psychological development of adolescents if they use poor communication styles, such as excessive criticism, lack of emotional support, and unhealthy interactions. The mixed method, which combines quantitative and qualitative techniques, is used in this research. Questionnaires are used in quantitative methods to measure the level of unhealthy parenting communication and its impact on students' mental development. Meanwhile, qualitative methods employ interviews and source triangulation to gather opinions from students, parents, and teachers. Quantitative data analysis shows a significant relationship between unhealthy communication levels and their impact on mental development.
