Abstract

This research explores controversial social issues in film through framing analysis. The era of advanced technology has brought about significant changes in the way we interact and access information, with social media such as Vidio.com becoming an integral part of everyday life. The film "Scandal" on Vidio.com highlights online prostitution under the guise of a modeling agency, raising questions about morality and its impact on society. This research recognizes the potential of social media in changing patterns of social interaction and raising controversial issues. Through a qualitative research approach, this study uses framing analysis to understand how the film "Scandal" raises the issue of online prostitution. By analyzing the Zhongdang Pan & Gerald M. Kosicki model with the four syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetorical elements in the film, this study identifies five prostitution frames expressed in the film: coerced prostitution, work-related prostitution, making condom advertisements, forms of activity prostitution, and steps in prostitution activities. The results of this study provide in-depth insights into how film can be a tool for evoking public reflection on complex social issues. This research has important implications in understanding how media such as film can shape perceptions and views on important issues in society, such as online prostitution..
